OVERVIEW

The Yokohama AVID Ascend is a touring, all season tire made for passenger vehicles. Yokohama offers an 85,000 mile warranty with the T speed rated sizes, a 75,000 mile warranty with the H speed rated sizes and the 65,000 mile treadwear warranty with the V speed rated sizes of this tire model.

The tire has great all weather traction thanks to the tread pattern and special tire compound. It grips the road well in dry, wet and even in winter conditions. The adaptive 3D sipes increase the snow and ice traction of the model by increasing block rigidity. The cross grooves and deeper circumferential grooves help expedite water dispersal, increasing their hydroplaning resistance. The tire is safe to use all year thanks to these enhancements.

The longer lasting tread life is the reason for the combination of the optimized tread profile, the tread block bridges and the orange oil compound. These three improvements work together to extend the tread life as they spread the driving pressure out along the tread area and prevent irregular wear across the tread. The longer lasting, even wear allows the tire to be used for a longer period of time.

The orange oil tire compound helps lower the rolling resistance of the tire. The lessened rolling resistance ensures that the vehicle uses less energy to keep the tires in motion. This further extends the tread life, as it slows down the tread wear rate. However, its more important result is the lowered fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of the vehicle. This makes the tire environmentally friendly and economic.

The tire’s continuous center rib maintains constant contact between the tire and the road. This enhanced road contact makes the tire more controllable and makes its handling effortless. The tire’s steering responsiveness becomes quick and accurate and it responds well to the driver’s steering instructions. The driver is able to confidently control the tire in all weather conditions.

The AVID Ascend’s multi-pitch tread design, with the differing length tread details, decreases the road noise the tire makes while in motion. The multi-pitch tread design creates frequencies while in motion that cancel out the road noise heard in the cabin of the vehicle, offering a comfortable and quiet driving experience.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
